Search for exosome treatment in Gurgaon and almost every clinic calls its product "medical-grade". The phrase sounds reassuring, but it has no fixed meaning. Here is how to judge what you are really being offered.
What exosomes are
Exosomes are tiny packets that cells release to send signals to each other. In hair and skin treatment, they are placed in the scalp or skin with fine injections or microneedling, with the aim of encouraging weak follicles or tired skin cells to work better. They contain no living cells.
What the evidence says
Research on exosomes is still young. Early studies and clinical experience are encouraging for some people, but the evidence is thinner than for treatments such as PRP, products vary a lot between manufacturers, and there is no single standard for what goes in a vial. A clinic that promises guaranteed regrowth is going beyond what the evidence supports.
Questions to ask any exosome clinic
- Where does the product come from? Ask for the manufacturer and what the exosomes are derived from.
- Can I see testing or a lab report? A careful clinic can explain how the product is tested for sterility and quality.
- How is it stored and handled? Exosome products need correct storage, and mishandling reduces quality.
- Who does the treatment? It should be a doctor, in a proper clinic.
- What results should I expect, and how many sessions? Honest answers include a range and the words "it varies".
- What happens if it does not work? A good clinic tells you when to stop and what else to try.
Red flags
- Promises of guaranteed or permanent regrowth
- Claims that exosomes are "stem cells"
- A very low price with no product details
- No doctor involved in the consultation
- Pressure to buy a large package on the first visit
Hair exosomes and skin exosomes are not the same
Exosomes are used on the scalp for hair, and on the face with microneedling or other methods for skin quality. The evidence, the products and the goals are different, so a clinic should be able to explain which product it is using for which purpose. Be cautious if the same product is sold for everything.
Why price alone tells you little
Exosome treatments vary widely in cost, and a high price does not prove quality, just as a very low one is not proof of a problem. What matters is whether the clinic can tell you what is in the vial, where it came from and how it is tested. Price comparisons only make sense once you know that.
What a fair consultation looks like
- A doctor examines your scalp or skin before suggesting anything.
- Causes such as thyroid or iron problems are checked, not ignored.
- You hear what exosomes can and cannot do, including the limits of the evidence.
- You are given a realistic number of sessions and a review date.
- You can go home and decide without pressure.
How exosomes compare with PRP
PRP uses growth factors from your own blood and has more research behind it. Exosomes are newer, and often used alongside PRP, not instead of it. Neither brings back hair in areas that are fully bald. Our comparison of exosomes vs PRP goes into more detail.
Our approach
At House of Aetheria we check your scalp first, treat any underlying cause, and explain what exosomes can and cannot do. We will not promise a result, and we would rather tell you when another option suits you better. See our exosome hair treatment page.
