What Abdominoplasty Addresses

Three Problems Diet and Exercise Cannot Solve

A tummy tuck corrects structural changes in the abdominal wall that no amount of training or nutrition can reverse. These are physical changes to skin and muscle, not body composition issues.

Excess Abdominal Skin

Skin that has been stretched by pregnancy or major weight loss loses its elasticity and cannot retract on its own. This is a structural change. Surgery removes the excess panel of skin — often from the navel downward — and re-drapes the remaining skin tightly over a flat abdomen.

Diastasis Recti

Pregnancy separates the two bands of the rectus abdominis muscle — a condition called diastasis recti. This creates a visible ridge or bulge down the centre of the abdomen that does not close with core exercises. Abdominoplasty repairs this separation with permanent sutures, restoring the flat muscular wall.

Persistent Abdominal Prominence

A combination of lax muscles, intra-abdominal fat distribution, and loose skin can cause a persistently protruding lower abdomen even in patients at healthy weight. The tummy tuck addresses all three components — muscle tightening, skin removal, and optional concomitant liposuction — in a single procedure.

Procedure Options

Tummy Tuck Options at House of Aetheria

The right type of abdominoplasty depends on the amount of excess skin, the degree of muscle separation, and whether liposuction is also appropriate. Dr. Rahul Jain determines the plan at consultation.

Surgical

Mini Abdominoplasty

For patients with excess skin limited to the lower abdomen, below the navel. A shorter horizontal incision removes the lower skin panel and tightens the lower muscle. The navel is not repositioned. Shorter scar, faster recovery than a full tummy tuck.

Starting From ₹1,20,000
Surgical · Most Common

Standard Abdominoplasty

Addresses excess skin across the full abdomen, repairs diastasis recti across the full length of the muscle, and repositions the navel. The scar runs low from hip to hip, within the bikini line. Recommended for post-pregnancy and significant weight-loss patients.

Starting From ₹1,60,000
Surgical

Extended / Fleur-de-lis

For patients after major weight loss with skin excess extending around the flanks or a vertical excess in the upper abdomen. The extended technique wraps around to the sides; fleur-de-lis adds a vertical incision for vertical excess. Recommended for post-bariatric patients.

Starting From ₹2,50,000
Combination

Tummy Tuck + Liposuction

Liposuction of the flanks, outer thighs, or abdomen combined with abdominoplasty in a single procedure. Liposuction addresses fat deposits that a tummy tuck cannot remove, producing a more complete body contour. Safe within the same anaesthetic when appropriately planned.

Package

Mommy Makeover

Combines tummy tuck with breast lift or breast augmentation — addressing the two most common post-pregnancy concerns in a single recovery. Doing both procedures together reduces total anaesthesia time and overall recovery versus separate surgeries.

Repair

Diastasis Recti Repair

If excess skin is minimal but the muscle separation is the primary concern — a common scenario in lean patients who delivered large babies — the surgeon performs muscle repair through a limited incision without significant skin removal. Discussed at consultation.

What Our Patients Say

★★★★★

I had two pregnancies back to back and no amount of exercise was fixing the loose skin or the muscle separation. Dr. Rahul Jain explained everything clearly — the recovery, the scar, what was realistic. Six months later, I genuinely cannot believe how different my abdomen looks.

Common Questions About Tummy Tuck in Gurgaon

What is the cost of a tummy tuck in Gurgaon?

Tummy tuck at House of Aetheria ranges from ₹1,20,000 to ₹3,00,000 depending on the type. Mini abdominoplasty starts at ₹1,20,000. Standard abdominoplasty ranges from ₹1,60,000 to ₹2,50,000. Extended or fleur-de-lis abdominoplasty starts at ₹2,50,000. Tummy tuck combined with liposuction is priced at consultation after Dr. Jain assesses the volume and areas involved. Final pricing is always confirmed after an in-person assessment — no hidden charges.

Who is a good candidate for abdominoplasty?

Ideal candidates are adults at or near their stable weight who have excess abdominal skin and/or separated abdominal muscles that do not respond to exercise. The most common presentations are post-pregnancy women with diastasis recti and hanging lower abdominal skin, and patients after significant weight loss with excess skin panels. You should be a non-smoker (or willing to stop 6 weeks before and after), not planning future pregnancies, and have realistic expectations about what surgery can and cannot achieve.

Where is the tummy tuck scar and will it show?

In a standard abdominoplasty, the scar runs horizontally across the lower abdomen, placed below the bikini line so it sits within underwear or a swimsuit. It is not visible in normal clothing. The scar takes 3 to 6 months to flatten and lighten. In Indian skin types (Fitzpatrick IV–V), scar management with silicone gel sheets and strict sun protection is important from 3 weeks post-surgery to minimise pigmentation. The scar does not disappear but fades considerably over 12 to 18 months.

How long is recovery after a tummy tuck?

Most patients are mobile and walking within 24 hours — you should not be sedentary. Surgical drains, if placed, are removed at 7 to 10 days. You can typically return to desk work at 2 weeks. A compression garment is worn continuously for 6 weeks. Strenuous exercise, lifting, and heavy activity is avoided for 6 weeks. Swelling continues to reduce over 3 to 6 months, and the final result is visible at approximately 6 months when all residual oedema has resolved.

What is the difference between a tummy tuck and liposuction?

Liposuction removes fat deposits but does not address loose skin or muscle laxity. If you have excess skin, liposuction may worsen its appearance — you will have less fat beneath skin that was already lax. A tummy tuck removes the excess skin and tightens the muscles but is not primarily a fat removal procedure. Many patients benefit most from a combination: tummy tuck to address skin and muscle, with simultaneous liposuction for residual fat. Dr. Rahul Jain will assess which approach matches your specific anatomy.

Is the result permanent?

The structural changes — removal of excess skin and repair of the abdominal muscles — are permanent. However, significant weight gain or subsequent pregnancy will stretch the skin and may re-separate the muscles. We advise patients who are planning future pregnancies to postpone surgery until their family is complete. Maintaining a stable weight post-surgery preserves the outcome long-term. Aging continues naturally but the physical change achieved at surgery remains.
